At VOA Northern Rockies, we believe that every veteran deserves dignity and respect. Our Veteran Services programs are dedicated to addressing the diverse needs of our Veteran population, providing a hand-up rather than a hand-out, and collaborating with community resources, including the VA, to combat veteran homelessness. We embody President Lincoln’s commitment to those “who shall have borne the battle.”
Our Commitment to Veterans
VOA Northern Rockies is dedicated to assisting veterans from all military campaigns, particularly those who have experienced homelessness after their service. Many challenges that veterans face may not surface until after discharge, significantly impacting their quality of life. We stand ready to provide assistance and support.
Transitional Living Facilities
We operate two transitional living facilities:
Freedom Hall in Sheridan, Wyoming
Independence Hall in Billings, Montana
These facilities create therapeutic environments where veterans can continue receiving VA treatment while participating in activities that promote independent living and community reconnection.
Comprehensive Support Programs
Our program coordinators work diligently to connect veterans with vocational training, educational opportunities, and life skills training to help them thrive. Freedom Hall and Independence Hall not only provide housing but also foster strong community networks to support our veterans.
Beyond our transitional facilities, we offer various programs throughout Wyoming, Montana, and Western South Dakota. We assist veterans in locating suitable housing and meaningful employment.

Volunteers of America embodies President Lincoln’s commitment to caring for those “who shall have borne the battle.”
Volunteers of America is committed to assisting Veterans of all military campaigns, and we are active in providing services to Veterans who have become homeless since serving in the military. Many conditions do not become apparent until after our Veterans are discharged from service, and issues that arise for Veterans during and after their service can severely impact their quality of life. So, we are poised to offer our assistance.
