The Youth Independent Living program teaches life skills to youth who have experienced incarceration, treatment, homelessness, or out-of-home placement. Youth in this program focus on employment, education, health, financial management skills, recreation, and family relationships.
The Evans Independent Living Center, located on Strahan Parkway in Sheridan, Wyoming, is a newly constructed facility offering eight furnished two-bedroom apartments to support young adults transitioning to independent living. This building, part of a broader vision by VOA Northern Rockies, includes office space and a pantry to further enhance resident support. The Sheridan campus also includes two additional, separate apartments for Independent Living.
The young adults participating in these programs determine what success means to them and develop a plan to accomplish their vision. Independent Living staff provides one-on-one mentorship and access to multiple community resources to help each individual achieve their goals.
We also have a day center for anyone who needs access to basic resources or simply a space to be. It includes:
- Computer and wifi access
- Laundry, shower, and a full bathroom
- Kitchen area and food pantry
- Lounge Area
The day center is open 8:00am-5:00pm M-F and located at the west end of our building at 1876 S Sheridan Avenue.
